Despite the fact that you don't use your grill that often, you should always take the time to clean it. Grills can last longer if you take good care of it. We all know how much it can cost to build a grill station as well as purchase a grill. If you want to be practical and to save money, then you should take these grill cleaning tips into consideration. 1. Always clean your grill on a regular basis. It can be once a week or twice a week. Do not wait for dirt and dust to accumulate on your grill. Cleaning them on a regular basis can surely extend its life span. 2. Do not forget to throw the ashes that have accumulated on the kettle. Leaving these will surely create some airflow problems and you wouldn't want to deal with that problem the next time you use your grill. Always throw out the ashes after it has cooled because it absorbs moisture and we all know that moisture can lead to rusting. 3. When you are done grilling, let the coals die down and the grate cool. You can remove the loose particles on the grate by using a grill brush or a an aluminum foil that is crumpled will do. For better cleaning, you can use a steel wool sponge that is wet and soapy. This helps to loosen the particles even more making it easier to remove them. Do not forget to rinse and wipe dry. 4. If you don't want to spend a lot of time cleaning the residual particles, you can always burn it off by turning up the heat. Once it is done you can then follow the usual procedure of cleaning the grill grate using a grill brush or a steel wool sponge. 5. When using a steel wool sponge, avoid applying too much pressure as this can result to scratches. Keep in mind to apply moderate pressure only just enough to remove those particles. 6. Once in a while you can clean the inside and outside of your bowl or kettle as well as the lid. To clean these parts you can use a dish cloth wet with warm soapy water. You can wipe all the areas using this cloth and then rinse and wipe dry. 7. The lid is covered with baked enamel so there is no need to wax or paint this. The baked enamel has a glossy finish and is much better than regular wax or paint. Avoid doing such because you will surely ruin the glossy finish. When dust accumulates on the lid or when it gets dirty you can simply wipe it with a wet dishcloth and then wipe dry. 8. Do not forget to wipe dry your grill every time you clean it. Moisture can result to rusting so before you cover everything make sure that there are no more moist spots. Keeping your grill clean will surely make it last longer and you will have more barbecue sessions to enjoy with family and friends. |
