Four Things You Need For A Great Barbecue

Cooking barbecue may seem easy. You just need a heated grill and slabs of meat to throw them on for the perfect meal, right? Well, it may seem that simple at this point of the cooking process but when it comes to barbecue there is actually a lot of preparation required especially if you want the best tasting barbecue in your neighborhood.

To make sure that your barbecue is a success in your next neighborhood party, here are things that you need to get so that your recipe won't turn out to be an epic fail.

• The right meat – You can't just walk into a butcher shop and buy the next slab of meat that looks great to eat. You need to be more particular with the meats that you buy for a barbecue party.

In this case, since you will be grilling most of the time outside, you will need to get meat that is sliced properly with the right thickness. Some great meats that you can try include New York strips. Perhaps some Filet Mignon and the all time favorite Rib eye. These make for great barbecues and they don't get too tough when slicing into them.

• Seasoning – One way to get all those rich flavors out of your barbecue is to get all the right seasoning for it. Salt and pepper may be the obvious classics but try to explore a little and try some other spices.

You can use cumin, paprika or even some soy sauce if you like. The point is that you are trying to bring out the meat flavors but not have the seasoning overcome those flavors. Keep it at a minimum and you should be fine. But always a have a good selection of different seasonings that your guests can try.

• Sauce – Now, this is very different from the seasoning in the sense that you will be using sauce with the meat during the actual act of eating. The seasoning is used with the meat as it cooks. What you need is to invest some of your money in some good barbecue sauces that will complement the meat that you have cooked.

Try to get some sweet and spicy sauces and even make your own gravy if you have to. Sauces are great to keep the meat wet and tasty so that your guests can't get enough.

• Vegetables – You don't always have to just eat meat when you are having a barbecue party. Try to whip out a few vegetable dishes as well. You can make some fresh salads or fry a few diced carrots, onions and peas to act as a side-dish. Another great side dish is corn as the sweetness will clash with the saltiness of the meat. This makes for a great combination of flavors that your guests are sure to enjoy. Another favorite is to make some vegetable kebabs that you can throw on the grill with the meat so that it absorbs some of the flavors that escape the meat during the cooking process.
